Our ESG priorities
Our ESG strategy is centred around three core commitments: Environment, Social and Governance.
-
Committed to a better climate and environment
-
Working safely with talented people
-
Operating on responsible business practices

Our ESG priorities: focused, transparent and impact-driven
Wagenborg refined its ESG strategy by aligning with the CSRD guidelines through an extensive and auditable materiality process. This helped us identify the ESG topics that matter most—both in terms of their impact on our company and the influence we can have. Based on the principle of double materiality, we consulted customers, financiers, and employees across our entire shore organization. Their input led to a revised materiality matrix and helped us focus on what truly matters. From a broad list of relevant topics, eleven were identified as material and form the basis for our sustainability actions.
27,8% relative CO2 reduction compared to 2008
4,7 Lost Time Injury Frequency (LTIF)
A retention rate of 91% for our seafarers
A percentage of 29% of female senior managers.
Environmental
We are committed to achieve a better climate and environment
Wagenborg actively participates in the shipping and transport decarbonization energy transition. Together with our stakeholders - authorities, clients, investors, employees, suppliers – we take on sustainability challenges to reduce our environmental footprint. Across Wagenborg’s activities, we strive to minimize the negative impact of our operations on the environment related to our operations. We focus on three topics:
- Reducing our relative CO2 emissions by 40% per ton/mile in 2030 compared to 2008
- The reduction of emission of air pollutants
- Circularity: the footprint of the goods we purchase and the manner in which we discard our assets.
