No sooner said than done? That’s right! But not without a few challenges. The route to the construction site, and the site itself, posed a challenge all of their own. Access to the time-limited and very constricted site was via an exit road from the motorway. The task of assembling the crawler crane here, not to mention lifting and installing the bridge components (up to 11.5 metres in size and weighing up to 65 tons) was a Wagenborg project par excellence.
Similar components will be installed on the north side of the Süd-Rakete during a later phase, so that the north and south sides can be ‘folded’ together to form a complete bridge.
