The new steel arch bridge is a colossus, weighing 950 tonnes. And with a span of no less than 140 metres, it is by far the longest bridge in Estonia. For the transport operation, the bridge has been reinforced with additional structures, bringing its total weight to almost 1,200 tonnes. The access bridge, over which the transport to the river takes place, was also reinforced for the occasion.
Together with the customer, Wagenborg Nedlift's engineers came up with an inventive transport and access operation for this record-breaking bridge, which took place in several phases:
After an intensive period of preparation, the bridge was finally installed in mid-August. Under the watchful eyes of the client and many of the city's residents, the bridge specialists completed the job exactly as planned. A fine result of the excellent teamwork and technical ingenuity of the Wagenborg team.
