The River Pärnu in Estonia flows through the city of Pärnu, also known as the 'Summer Capital of Estonia' because of its location on the Gulf of Riga and its many summer festivals. In the middle of this historic city, a new riverside link is being built. A perfect job for Wagenborg Nedlift's bridge team.
Combinatie Herepoort is the construction consortium carrying out the reconstruction of the Groningen ring road. Wagenborg Nedlift has been involved in the project since the start in 2018. Project manager Harry Oudman, work planner Rick Kleiverda and supervisor Jan Dinkla talk about 5 years of the Ring Road South Project.
Salzbergen is home to one of the oldest refineries in Germany. As early as 1860, lamp oil and lubricants were produced here. Today it is home to a technologically advanced refinery complex with modern blending, bottling and logistics facilities. A recent project saw the addition of six new storage tanks. It was up to Wagenborg Nedlift's lifting specialists to place these on their foundations.
The Chemelot site in Geleen aims to become Europe's first circular chemistry site by 2050, using sustainable, non-fossil raw materials and energy to produce plastics for everyday use. This transition requires adjustments to the infrastructure and facilities. Last summer, two huge storage tanks had to be transported to the site for an infrastructure project. This required the temporary closure of the A2 motorway. A major transport challenge!
Countless bridges link the banks of the Ruhr. This is also the case in Duisburg, where four adjacent railway bridges over the Ruhr Canal have been given colourful names to distinguish them from each other. After the 'gelbe’(yellow) bridge was replaced a few years ago, it was now the turn of the 'violette’ (purple) bridge, a lattice railway bridge built in 1917. Not an easy job for Wagenborg Nedlift's bridge team!
During the spring of 2022, Wagenborg Nedlift participated in a major project in Leverkusen, Germany. Work was commissioned by two civil contractors to remove an old railway viaduct. Wagenborg's crew then installed two new spans at the same location. This involved not only lifting but also sliding, says Peter Eijffius, project manager on this heavy duty job.
The Meeden high-voltage substation has existed for 50 years and is an important link in the power supply for the region and the rest of the Netherlands. From Meeden, there is also a connection to a high-voltage substation in the German town of Diele, so that power can be exchanged between the Netherlands and Germany.
