An exceptional transport operation was carried out in Assen, Drenthe over the past few days. Two transformers, each weighing 250 tonnes, were transported to the site for the expansion of the Zeijerveen transformer station. A skillful piece of heavy transport work!
Expansion work on the nitrogen plant in Zuidbroek, Groningen, is in full swing. The nitrogen plant processes imported gas for the Dutch network. The planned expansion is expected to be completed in 2022.
Last week, the crew of Wagenborg Nedlift and Wagenborg Stevedoring worked together on a transformation project of survey vessel EDT Protea. This whip will be transformed to a walk-to-work vessel on behalf of the North Sea offshore sector.
'Aanpak Ring Zuid' is the project name for the large-scale conversion of Groningen's southern ring road. Groningen's rampant growth is threatening to overwhelm this road, which is the main gateway to the city. The conversion of the southern ring road will improve accessibility, traffic flow, liveability and safety. The project is scheduled for completion by 2024.
At shipyard Ferus Smit BV in Westerbroek (NL), the ship construction team has worked hard on two ring sections on behalf of the first of two new DF tankers for shipping company Erik Thun AB from Sweden. Last week the sections were transported to the shipyard in Leer where they will be combined with the other sections that have been constructed there.
Last week the time had come: the third knuckle boom crane for Wagenborg Nedlift was delivered at the Hengelo location. Regional Manager Jeanet de Jong handed over the keys to drivers Willy Olde Dubbelink and Gerald Heskamp at a safe distance.
Saint-Brieuc Offshore Wind Farm is being constructed in the Bay of Saint-Brieuc in Brittany, 16.3 kilometres off the French coast. When finished, the wind farm will produce 1,820 GWh annually, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 835,000 inhabitants. The installation works will last several months and will continue until 2022. The wind farm will be fully commissioned in 2023.
Last Friday: a festive moment for Wagenborg Nedlift and Palfinger Nederland. The keys of the first two brand new knuckleboom cranes have been handed over. Number three will follow later on. It is all about the Palfinger PK 92002-SH.
